Simple Chocolate-Coconut Dessert Idea

I’m not quite sure what to call this chocolate-coconut recipe. It almost has the consistency of frosting. What the texture reminds me the most of, though, is melted fudge. Have you ever bought fudge at a tourist attraction gift shop and then left the box in the car for a couple of hours in the sun? That rich, gooey texture is rhe best way I could describe this delicious chocolate-coconut concoction.

This recipe is one I discovered by accident. A couple weeks ago, I bought a jar of coconut oil to use for cooking, baking, etc. After opening the jar and trying a little taste, I decided I wanted to try doing something with it that would make it chocolatey, so I added a little cocoa powder and then stirred in a little honey for a sweetner.

The recipe is about as simple as you can get -just three ingredients:

All you have to do is spoon each of these ingredients into a cup or small bowl and then stir them together. I usually combine these three ingredients in equal amounts (like 1 tsp coconut oil, 1 tsp cocoa powder, and 1 tsp raw honey.) You could play around with these amounts if you wanted to make this more or less sweet, but having the ingredients close to equal ratios makes it the easiest to stir together into a smooth consistency.

The most dominant flavor is the chocolate, but you can definitely taste the coconut too. The honey is a bit more subtle. You can tell it’s there, but the chocolate and coconut flavors are stronger.

I’ve been eating this just by itself straight off the spoon as a dessert. I think this could certainly work as a frosting substitute, though, if you wanted your frosting to have a bit of a coconut flavor to it.

The best part about this recipe is that you feel like you’re eating something really rich and decadent even though it’s only a couple of teaspoonfuls rather than a big piece of chocolate cake.

This is the perfect dessert when you want something that tastes indulgent without having to feel guilty about eating something unhealthy.

  1. I just had these at a homeschool meeting the other night, but she put her’s in the freezer so that it was more like a chocolate bar! I can’t wait to try them! Thanks for linking up at Simply Made Home. This is a great idea. I have a couple of Paleo friends who I will pass this post on to!
